The procedure for the draw for the 2022 World Cup has been announced by FIFA. Football fans and teams will find their way to success on April 1, as the draw will be in Doha at 6:00 PM on that day.

The WC draw will be held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center in the capital of Qatar. The 28 already qualified teams are divided into four pots on the basis of their sporting performances. The FIFA World Ranking on March 31, 2022, after all international matches, is leading for the pot classification.

As the host country, Qatar is assured of a place in pot 1, along with the 7 highest ranked teams according to the FIFA Ranking.

  • Pot 1: Qatar + teams 1 to 7
  • Pot 2: teams 8 to 15
  • Pot 3: teams 16 to 23
  • Pot 4: teams 24 to 28 + 2 winners of the intercontinental play-offs + 1 winner of the UEFA play-offs

Intercontinental Playoffs

The intercontinental play-offs will be played on June 13 and 14, 2022 in Qatar. The winner of the AFC will face the winner of the CONMEBOL, and the winner of the Concacaf will face the winner of the OFC.

UEFA play-offs

The final matches of the UEFA play-offs will be played in June 2022, with one more winner to follow. The first 2 winners of the play-offs will be announced in March.
